Rapes

The number of rapes in the United States has decreased more than 85% since the 70's. Which is good. They say there is very good improvment and the crime has been receding from the American way of life. That still doesn't make the few that there are less punishable it makes it just as a serious as it always was.

The only problem with rape is that it is very underreported. But what do people expect? Women who get raped tend to be sheltered and nervous after the fact. They are nervous and just want to forget it. Sometimes they are even embarrassed and worry that it might their fault. Sometimes they worry that their families will hate them for the terrible thing that happened to them. Most if dont get murdered as well just run home and take a shower. They feel so dirty it doesn't go away no matter what. But women need to know that going to the police is the right thing to do. They can catch the jerk that did it to them.

Pregnant Women Killed and Set on Fire

The police say they know how this women was murdered but they won't say how becasue a suspect has not been put into custody. At her home on Easter Sunday, Yvette was murdered as were her two dogs and then her apartment was set on fire. She was pregnant and thats what most people thought was the worst part.

"The biggest tragedy is the baby, her being you know with a child and everything it's very, very upsetting, very disturbing actually," someone said.

This is true because of some jerk a nice lady died as was an unborn child. This child didn't even get to experiance life because of some guy taking advantage of a weak women and killing her. Women are going to fight the inferior battle until the end of time. It's never going to end. People see on the news everyday this guy murdering this guy or women and its normalty but when you hear of a women murdering a man its shocking. This all goes back to how women are viewed weak in comparrison to men.

Alice Sebold

I have already written about Alice Sebold's book. But I'd like to comment on another one, Lucky. This book doesn't descibe her story of her rape, but anothers. It is powerful and sad. She describes as I can remember a girl getting raped and killed. The narrator is speaking the experiance as the girl from heaven trying to lead the way to the killer.

The struggle to get out of the rape is intense and obviously she doesn't come out on top. Her family strives to find the answer but they don't in the end.

The point of me writing about her is to stress that rape is horrible. Being a young girl herself, Alice wrote both of these books and expressed how a women just feels when being is a horrible cituation. She had to fight for her life. Imagine if the girl in the first story survived. She would have that painful memory for the rest of er life. That is something that it not easy to bounch back from. You hurt a lot more than just the girl what about her parents? Their precious little girl has been hurt and they don't even know how to react.

Letter of Broken Love

I just ended a six-month relationship because the person whom I believed to be the man of my dreams turned out to be a cheater. At this point in my life, I have given up all hope in men. It's unfortunate, but six out of the eight men that I've dated were unfaithful to me. I must admit that being a victim of unfaithfulness is very stressful and has caused me a lot of pain. Regrettably, I've come to the same conclusion that most women already know: men cheat because they're pigs Are men really just evil pigs controlled by their one-eyed monsters, or is there any hope in my ever finding a man who does not cheat?

This is a letter to a counceller asking for help on her latest relationship. You might thing women have littel things to worry about and their boyfriend cheating on them would be the last thing to worry over. Women have many different types on struggles. Men are one of them. From the early days of life women have been known has inferior to men which is not the case. The consitution has been changed to cater to womens equalties. Women can cheat on men yes but in this case a man has cheated on a women.

In her case she has been unfortunate not to find a faithful man but is this the end? No it is not. There are going to many times where women has to battle back to get through rough situations like this one, although it can be done. For the time being this will obviously hurt; mentaly just as physical pain does. A man beating a women or a man cheating hurts the same, but in two very different ways.
In Saudi Arebia a young girl was beaten and shot by her father for talking to young men on Facebook. This young girl justwanted to get away from the everyday rules of her society. You cannot leave the house without a headscarf and cloak, women can't drive and they sure can't be with another unrealted man.

People say that she was probably trying to reveal pictures and behave badly online. Lots of Saudi women fight back online because they can't do it otherwise. Some go online to talk about human and women rights because they don't have any.

This article was much more than just the young girl who got beaten and shot dead by her father it just goes to show how Saudi women are not treated good at all. There was a comment on this article that I thought I'd include.

"How extreme. "Beaten and shot dead" is typical of a society where women are held to be just about less than nothing. For some reason, men in Saudi appear to be so fearful of women and their lives that they are paranoid about controlling them completely."- James Stuart, Chorley

This is true. Why should women be less than nothing when they should be more than everything? They must be scared the women will eventually over power them because women tend to be smarter.

On page 65 we see Alice having a certain distrust towards men. "We were praying for my soul. I stared at Father Breuniger's crotch. Though about what he was under all that black. He was a man. He had a dick like every man did. What right had he, I wondered, to pray for my soul?" She doesn't even think a Priest has the right to pray for her soul. She has been raped by a man who was stronger than her, he had more power; preist's have the power as well. Making that connection maybe she is scared; scared to trust anyone with any power over her at all. She see's right through people doing nice gestures for her as if it's going in one ear and out the other; she just ignores it and worries about men.
On page 38 Alice reveals something to us; her mother was an alcoholic. "My mother's pillows when I was little smelled like cherries. It was a sickeningly sweet smell. It was the same way my rapist smelled on the night of the rape. I would not admit to myself until years later that this was the smell of alcohol." Alice's mother and her rapist now have something in common. Drinking. Maybe this foreshadows trust issues with Alice and her mother, or maybe this foreshadows a big tragedy where Alice doesn't want her mother to drink anymore.
